24-HOUR CRISIS HOTLINE: 540-981-9352

Volunteering is a gift of time, energy, and heart. SARA knows and understands the value of these attributes in a volunteer and does not take them for granted. There is more than one way to be involved with our mission and volunteering is one of those ways. Whether you are looking to gain new skills, meet new friends, or dedicate a little bit of time when you can, we will do our best to find an opportunity that works for you.

Crisis Advocates

Crisis Advocates offer support, information, and assistance to survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones through our 24-hour crisis hotline. Through this opportunity, you’ll learn a valuable set of skills to give back.

Work with us to fulfill your internship or practicum requirement through our Volunteer Crisis Advocacy program. These opportunities are available throughout the academic year and require a two-semester commitment.

Other Opportunities

We often need volunteers for one-time events such as fundraisers, workshops, and informational tabling. If you don’t have the time to be a Volunteer Crisis Advocate, but still want to be involved, we encourage you to sign up for our newsletter and follow us on social media to be notified of volunteer needs as they arise.

Being a volunteer for SARA has given me knowledge in areas of crisis services I had only been vaguely familiar with, and instilled within me the confidence of knowing that I help to bring peace and a sense of support to those in the community.
